- Master of Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology of Microbial Pathogens from Yale University
- Dual board certification in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
- Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center
- Work with local EMS agencies providing medical direction for search and rescue operations in the Central Cascade mountains of Washington

- Nearly 15 years on a SWAT team
